This is the second pendant lamp in my collection. I began working on it in February 2025, but a family tragedy sapped my strength and I had to stop working for several months.
This lamp captures the tears and grief of my sister’s death. Her memory accompanied me every time when I returned to work on this lamp.
What sets it apart is its new type of carving.

The spiral patterns and leaves were created by sanding the space around them, and maneuvering the tools in the narrow spaces was a great challenge.
I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t strive for ever greater perfection in detail. Hence, even greater precision in the placement of the holes.
There are many more of them than in previous lamps—19,136 to be exact—and they are also smaller and more densely spaced.
When the lamp is turned on, all the holes create a mandala pattern on the ceiling. However, achieving a regular and symmetrical pattern required
enormous precision and adapting the hole layout to the shape of the gourd.
The seemingly perfect ball has its imperfections and deformations caused by cultivation and drying.
